INTERNATIONAL CHORAL COMPETITION
#PICF2019 Choir competition has 11 categories, which are :
SCHOOL CATEGORIES
KINDERGARTEN CHOIR
- Choir prepares 2 pieces
- Unisono / S1 S2
- The maximum actual singing is 10 minutes
- Age limit 4 – 6 years
- A maximum of 10% of the singers may exceed the age limit by not more than 1 year
- Accompaniment for both songs is allowed
PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIR
- Choir prepares 2 pieces
- S (S) A (A)
- Max 50 singers
- The maximum actual singing Is 10 minutes
- Age limit 6-12 years
- A maximum of 10% of the singers may exceed the age limit by not more than 1 year
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR
- Choir prepares 2 pieces
- S (S) A (A) / S A (B)
- Max 50 singers
- The maximum actual singing is 10 minutes
- Age limit 12 – 16 years
- A maximum of 10% of the singers max exceed the age limit by not more than 1 year
- Accompaniment for both songs is allowed
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR
- Choir prepares 2 pieces

- Max 50 singers
- The maximum actual singing is 10 minutes
- Age limit 15 – 18 years
- A maximum of 10% of the singers may exceed the age limit by not more than 1 year
- One of the songs choices should be presented in a-capella

CHILDREN CHOIR

GOSPEL AND SPIRITUAL
- Choir should present Gospel & Spiritual songs from traditional Afro-America
- Choir prepares 3 pieces

MUSICA SACRA
- Choir prepares composition of sacred music
- This category refers to Renaissance until modern sacred songs
- Choir prepares 3 pieces
- The maximum actual singing is 15 minutes

CHAMBER CHOIR
- Age limit : 18 – 40 years
- Choir prepares 3 pieces

- 15 – 30 singers
- The maximum actual singing is 15 minutes

GENERAL RULES
CATEGORIES :
- All choirs are eligible to compete in a maximum of two competition categories.
- For choirs competing in two categories, the repertoire for each category must be different.
AGE LIMIT :
- Choirs who represent school, church, or who take part in a category with an age limit MUST send a statement letter which is signed by the school’s principal or another authorised official.
- The letter must be include the date of birth and the age of each member.
- The choir will be disqualified if the committee finds any difference between the details in the statement letter and the performance on stage, and no refund will be given.
SCORE AND SONG PROGRAMME :
- The program that will be performed on stage must be an original work for choir not a reduction from orchestra.
- The participants must send 5 (five) sets of song programs of the song that will be performed. 4 (four) sets will be returned to the participants after the awarding ceremony, and 1 (one) will be kept by the committee for the archive. The committee will not send the score after closing day.
- All songs MUST be approved by the Artistic Committee. The ones that are not approved MUST be replaced.
- To avoid problems during the preparation, it is advised to fill in the artistic data and send the song(s) in advance.
- The COPYRIGHT of the song is the responsibility of the participants. The committee is not responsible for any song’s copyright that will be performed or the use of the song with photocopy.
- The participants must come along with the written license to use the song (s) from the composer.
- It is advised that the participants buy the original score or send the receipts for a minimum of 5 sets of scores to the committee for the songs that have been published by publisher.
- For choir who uses instruments, the score for the instruments is COMPULSORY to be included in the choir score.
INSTRUMENTS / ACCOMPANIMENTS :
- The committee will only provide an acoustic piano. (Please inform the committee for the instrument)
- A maximum of 3 instruments without ‘definite pitch’ can be used.
- Only categories A, B and C may use accompaniment for both songs.
- Only live accompaniments and original accompaniments are permitted.
- The use of any kind of playback or soundtrack is strictly prohibited.
- The use of amplification is not allowed in this competition.
STAGE REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE
- The schedule and venue of each group will be informed in August 2019. The schedule for stage rehearsal is only 5 minutes for each category.
- IMPORTANT ! The schedule will be prioritised for participants who have sent the arrival details early. There will be no replacement of the performance and rehearsal schedule from the ones that have been decided.
